Environmental Initiatives Purity Spring Resort

Purity Spring Resort LogoPurity Spring and its businesses have maximized efforts to minimize its paper use in all departments and to recycle what has already been used.

Approximately 80% of print collateral for the Purity Spring businesses are printed using a FSC certified paper source. FSC certification is a product group from well-managed forests, controlled sources and recycled wood or fiber.

Educating Guests – Purity Spring and its businesses are participating in programs that will inform guests of its practices and why they are important and how others can make an impact as well.

Educating Staff – Purity Spring is beginning to add programs that will teach staff about the green actions they are taking, why they are important and ways to encourage others to make an impact as well.

  • A portion of the lodging units, currently being refurbished, are now using energy-efficient fans.
  • Purity Lake has been kept 100% free of development. Other than buildings that were built years ago, the Hoyt family has kept all development to an absolute minimal.
  • Purity Spring offers single-stream recycling, which is the recycling process of mixing paper, plastic, cans and glass in one collection bin. Two bins are available in every trash receptacle location; one bin for recyclables and one for items not accepted by the program such as general garbage, food waste, diapers and plastic bags.
  • Purity Spring Resort, Inc. has fulfilled the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) under compliance with the U.S. Environmental Proctection Agency (EPA), Section 402, and has received certification to conduct lead-based paint renovation, repair and painting activities pursuant to 40 CFR Part 745.89.
  • High-extraction washers are used in all laundry areas at each resort.
  • Purity Spring Resort uses a "guest commitment" policy where it offers a number of “reuse/recycle” options in regards to towels and bedding.
  • Energy efficient lighting is used throughout the resort.
  • Purity Spring Resort offers “Purity Green Weddings”. These weddings consist of ceremonies and receptions that offer minimal impact on the environment. For example, weddings held on “Purity Island” use minimal power and offer menus that use natural or organic foods that are grown locally. A number of different programs with varying degrees of “green”, are offered to the bride and groom to minimize the waste produced by large gatherings such as weddings.
