In
the search for a new executive chef, the Hoyt family didn’t
have to look very far to find the ideal candidate. He’s
always been right around Purity Spring.
“I met my wife here, we were married here, I grew up
skiing at King Pine, I hike the trails around the lake-- it
has always been a special place to me.” says Tasker.
Chef
Trevor Tasker comes back to Purity Spring after beginning
his culinary career at Purity Spring Resort in the early 1990's.
Most recently, Tasker served as the executive chef at the
Inn at Crystal Lake in Eaton, NH, where he created eclectic
nightly specials, new seasonal menus and collaborated on special
theme dinners.
Local
residents who dined often at the Inn at Crystal Lake are
well aware of his talent. “His food is creative,
unique and artistically presented,” said Shannon
Houde, Purity Spring Resort’s Group Sales Coordinator. “Best
of all, it’s absolutely delicious. We are so fortunate
to have him here at the resort.”
“I
can’t sing, I can’t draw and I can’t paint,”
he joked, “but I love to cook. It’s my way of
being creative. It’s my artistic outlet.”
“I like classical cuisine, but using regional ingredients,
like seafood, seasonal vegetables and even maple syrup”
says Tasker. “I like exploring with sauces and soups,
creating them to compliment other aspects of the menu. You’ll
see a lot more of that in this summer’s menu.”
A
1991 graduate of Kennett High School in Conway, NH, Tasker
went on to obtain a degree in culinary arts from Newbury College
in Brookline, MA. Tasker excelled at Newbury College, graduating
Summa Cum Laude and as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National
Honor Society.
Since
serving as Purity Spring's head cook from 1992-1995, Tasker's
career took him through a variety of restaurant styles, settings
and cuisines in the Boston area. Most notably, Tasker served
as the P.M. Chef at Pentimento Restaurant in Belmont, MA and
the executive chef at Porcini's Trattoria in Watertown, MA.
Tasker
has recently been awarded with the "2006 Chili Champ"
award held at the Madison Old Home Week celebration.
"I'm
looking forward to meeting and serving the resort's guests
this season," he says. “It will be fun to get
reacquainted with many of our long-time guests.”

Kris
Dahlstet-Carr
promoted to pastry chef
Purity Spring Resort has named
Kris Dahlstet-Carr of South Effingham, NH its new Pastry Chef.
Before being named to this new post, Dahlstet-Carr served
as Purity Spring Resort's rounds chef for seven years.
She
moved to New Hampshire in 1996 from her native Fruit Heights,
Utah and enrolled at New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier,
VT. After graduating with a culinary arts degree, she joined
the staff at Purity Spring.
"My
true love in cooking is pastry and breads," says Dahlstet-Carr,
who honed her baking skills at La Caille, one of Salt Lake
City’s landmark restaurants.
When not creating delicious pastries and baked goodies in
the kitchen, Dahlstet-Carr splits time between having fun
with her husband, son and two dogs and creating beautiful
handcrafted jewelry.
“I
like to create. Beading and jewelry-making is just another
creative outlet for me,” she says. Incidentally, a selection
of her jewelry can be found in the Blue Heron Gift Shop at
Purity Spring Resort.
"I
am really grateful that Purity Spring Resort has given me
this wonderful opportunity," says Dahlstet-Carr.
